Introduction
I am laboratory manager for AMC medical research. AMC Medical Research to ensure that third-party-funded scientific medical research at the Academic Medical Center is conducted in a transparent, targeted and lawful manner. This is achieved through support and supervision for project preparation, project management and personnel management. I have been a laboratory manager for 4.5 years. My main responsibilities are ordering supplies, running the lab and doing experiments.
What I like about my job is being able to help people with day to day lab problems while still doing experiments myself. Important skills to succeed in this field are: Patience, good organisational skills and problem solving.

Through another group leader at the AMC.
Can you tell a little bit about the application process you went through?
There was an interview where I explained about the scientific work I did so far, what techniques I was familiar with etcetera. Then we talked about how I would run the lab, my managing skills and overall personality.
What was challenging for you when you started in this position?
Not having one topic you can dive into but being part of a lot of different projects.

Look at your day to day activities and decide on what you like about your job and keep in mind where certain career choices will take you.
