(Junior) Technician Vector Production


MeiraGTx Netherlands is seeking a motivated (junior) technician to join our team. He/she will be involved in the production of new AAV-based vectors targeting different diseases. These vectors are produced for current and new projects and external collaborations, with the aim to develop new product candidates for clinical testing.
The technician’s main responsibility is to produce research grade vectors and the activities include both upstream (USP) and downstream (DSP) processing tasks. Also, when needed, the technician will perform quality control and in vitro characterization tests using molecular, biochemical and cell culture techniques. Furthermore the technician will assist in improving processes in our laboratories. The technician will have a unique opportunity to contribute to global projects at MeiraGTx.

Key responsibilities:

The (junior) technician will be responsible for the accurate and reliable execution of viral vector production tasks that are assigned to him/her, and analytical testing of starting materials, intermediate and final vector product according to production planning.


• MLO/HLO level or equivalent in Lifesciences, Biotechnology or related fields, and preferably one to two years work experience.
• Experience with cell culture, preferably with production and purification of viruses. Experience with suspension cultures is preferred.
• Experience with molecular, biological and biochemical techniques including qPCR and ELISA, is preferred.
• Good communication and social skills
• Accurate, pro-active and well-organized
• Ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Good documentation skills
• Flexible, positive, and professional attitude
• Proficient in English

Preferred skills:
• Ability to write standard operating procedures and work instructions
• Experience working in a gene therapy/biotech company with similar responsibilities is a plus
• Experience with AAV production and characterization
