You will work closely with scientists, technicians, and specialists from different disciplines such as analytics, fermentation, and sensory science. As a lead technician you play a central role in laboratory operations, executing experiments independently while also ensuring that the laboratory environment operates efficiently, safely, and according to food-grade standards.

Your technical expertise and proactive mindset allow you to contribute to innovative projects and support strategic development programs within the Taste, Texture & Health business unit.
Responsibilities:
- In this role you independently plan, prepare, and execute laboratory experiments related to food ingredient development. These include enzymatic incubations, extractions, rheological measurements, and the preparation of food-grade samples for sensory evaluation.
- You design experiments based on technical hypotheses, analyse experimental data, and present findings to scientists and project teams. Based on your results you draw conclusions and propose next steps to support ongoing research projects.
- Additionally, you contribute to improving laboratory efficiency by implementing automated workflows, digital tools, and data-driven approaches where possible. As laboratory lead technician you also ensure that the lab environment remains compliant with food-grade standards, manage equipment performance and maintenance, and troubleshoot technical issues when required.
- Safety is a key priority in your daily work. You ensure that laboratory activities comply with internal safety procedures and that safe working practices are consistently followed.
Profiel
The ideal candidate holds a BSc degree in Food Technology, (Applied) Biochemistry, Biotechnology or another relevant Life Sciences discipline. You bring more than 5 years of laboratory experience, preferably within an R&D environment related to food ingredients or food processing.You have hands-on experience with enzymatic incubations and are familiar with working with different substrates such as carbohydrates and proteins. Experience within a food-grade laboratory environment is strongly preferred.
You are a technically skilled and flexible professional who enjoys working across multiple projects and experimental techniques. You combine a proactive “can-do” attitude with strong organisational skills and are comfortable managing shifting priorities.
Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken, are essential for collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
