Alexandra Cloherty

Alex Cloherty is an award-winning science communicator and a PhD candidate in Immunology. Her doctoral research focuses on the role of autophagy (the decluttering system of the cell) in infectious diseases, such as HIV-1 and Dengue virus. Alex also has experience in qualitative research, tutoring/teaching, and team management. In her spare time, she is active as the writer and creator of "Microbial Mondays", a blog where she writes bite-sized articles to improve public understanding of microbiology. Aside from that, Alex spends her off-time on long-distance biking, low-waste living, and playing ukulele.
