Role Overview
The Project Engineer will lead engineering activities for pharmaceutical filling equipment and related process technologies. This includes design, installation, testing, verification, and validation within sterile environments. The role ensures compliance with internal standards, cGMP, and regulatory requirements while managing contractors and supporting successful transfer to operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Expertise
- Provide engineering input for filling lines, isolators, e-beams, washers, tunnels, and cappers.
- Define and document technical specifications (EDS, P&ID, electrical diagrams) and review with SMEs.
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards during design, construction, and implementation.
- Project Execution
- Oversee construction, installation, and commissioning of equipment.
- Apply project management best practices (schedule, budget, risk, reporting).
- Manage contractors and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Validation & Compliance
- Define validation approach and create test protocols for engineering tests.
- Execute verification and validation activities; coordinate SME and system owner approvals.
- Document deviations, CAPAs, risk assessments, and maintain cGMP compliance.
- Operational Transfer
- Deliver complete project documentation and ensure smooth handover to operations.
- Monitor start-up results to confirm achievement of project deliverables.
Profile
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, or related field).
- 3–5 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech engineering projects.
- Hands-on experience with filling equipment and sterile process technologies.
- Experience in testing, verification, and validation within cGMP environments (preferred).
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of filling lines, isolators, and associated equipment.
- Ability to create and interpret P&IDs, electrical diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with engineering standards and regulatory compliance (FDA, EMA).
