Medior/ Senior Bioinformatics Scientist - Discovery & Preclinical UK (London)
Job
Your Role
You will support target identification, validation, and biomarker discovery through integrative
analysis of molecular data across systems and disease models.
You’ll be part of a dynamic environment where curiosity, collaboration, and biological
understanding meet data-driven rigor.
Key Responsibilities
● Process, integrate, and interpret omics datasets (transcriptomics, single-cell, spatial,
proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics) to derive biological insights.
● Develop and apply computational methods and pipelines for model characterization
and mechanism-of-action studies.
● Use functional interpretation approaches (pathway enrichment, causal reasoning,
module detection) to translate data into biological hypotheses.
● Work collaboratively with discovery scientists to refine target selection and
understand mechanism relevance to disease biology.
● Communicate analytical findings through clear visualizations, summaries, and
presentations to multidisciplinary project teams.
● Ensure reproducibility, version control, and documentation of analyses following best
practices.
Profile
Qualifications & Skills
Essential
● PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or related field (or
equivalent experience).
● 3–10 years of relevant experience in bioinformatics applied to preclinical or
discovery-stage R&D in a business context.
● Proven expertise in omics data analysis and biological interpretation.
● Proficiency in R and/or Python, with experience in HPC or cloud computing
environments.
● Strong grounding in statistics, data integration, and visualization.
● Excellent stakeholder management & communication skills to bridge computational
and experimental disciplines.
● Fluent in English.
Preferred
● Familiarity with target discovery and preclinical model systems (in vitro, in vivo, or
patient-derived).
● Experience with multi-omics integration, network analysis, or causal inference.
● Understanding of immunology, neuroscience, or related therapeutic areas.
● Knowledge of Git-based workflows and reproducible analysis pipelines
(Docker/Snakemake/Nextflow).
Benefits
What We Offer
● Opportunity to work in the UK (London)
● A chance to work embedded within our client’s world-class discovery teams, while
being part of BioLizard’s scientific community.
● Continuous learning through mentorship, internal expertise sharing, and exposure to
cutting-edge science.
● A collaborative, growth-oriented culture where your work directly impacts the
discovery of new medicines.

Company profile
Who are we?
BioLizard (“The Lizards”) is a rapidly growing bioinformatics and data science consultancy that
helps biotech and pharma organizations transform complex biological data into actionable
insights. We combine deep biological expertise with state-of-the-art computational methods
to accelerate drug discovery, biomarker development, and translational research.
As a BioLizard consultant, you’ll work on-site at our client’s premises, embedded as part of
their bioinformatics team, supporting the discovery teams across different programs, to
explore biological mechanisms and drive data-informed decisions in early R&D. You’ll
collaborate closely with experimental scientists and computational peers to identify new
targets, characterize models, and refine hypotheses that shape future therapies.
